Turn Racing’s Community Questions & Answers
In this month’s newsletter, we're chatting with Rufus from our Discord, here’s what they had to say!
1. When did you first get into sim racing, and what sparked your interest in it?
I got into sim racing over ten years ago, thanks to my older brother that was involved in time attack competitions, and I wanted to do the same, but without a driver's license, I turned to simulators. The first one I tried was an early beta of Assetto Corsa, and I quickly fell in love with it.
2. Can you describe your first sim racing setup? How has your setup evolved over the years?
My first setup was an Xbox controller. Then I got a second hand Logitech G25 for my desk. Over the years I upgraded to Thrustmaster wheels, built a simple aluminium profile rig with a bucket seat, added DC2 pedals and finally got an SC2 Sport wheelbase. Recently I've added a few of my own designs to make it even nicer.
3. What advice would you give to someone just starting out in sim racing?
It may sound obvious, but the first thing to learn is to stay on track with other drivers and accept that you can make mistakes.
4. Who is your favorite motorsport driver of all time, and how have they influenced your approach to sim racing?
I'm more of a MotoGP fan, so it hasn't influenced my sim racing much, but to please everyone, I'll just say I'm a fan of the GOAT.
5. Looking ahead, what developments or trends in sim racing are you most excited about?
I'm excited about the development of active pedals, which I believe will be the next big thing as more competition joins.
6. What product would you like to see Turn Racing develop next?
I'd love to see Turn Racing produce a minimal GT steering wheel with their unique style.
Thanks to Rufus for sharing their insights and stories with us. It's always inspiring to hear from passionate members of the sim racing community and wider. Stay tuned for more engaging conversations in upcoming editions!
